my life is over.

I got the test results back, and basically I can no longer eat food. I'm allergic to pretty much anything edible. All dairy products (yes, even cheese), eggs, wheat/gluten, and almonds. You might not think that last one is a big deal, but I eat almonds every single day. I love almonds. Almond flavored things, almond scented soap...almonds are pretty much my favorite food. I don't know what I'm going to do.

I started crying in Whole Foods tonight when I realized that there is absolutely nothing that is dairy-free AND wheat-free AND egg-free.

I am going to get a second opinion.

that sounds awful! but maybe you will discover some delicious new recipes?

That totally sucks. At least you can still eat rice. You can still eat at a Benihana like restaurant. Hope your second opinion goes better...

get a second opinion!

p.s. that means that one pie crust recipe won't work because - almonds. bleh. I bet you can modify it with a different nut. I'm going to experiment for you.

crap. I shouldn't have voted for everytihng in the sidebar quiz. Now I feel terrible. Corn is okay, though? Corn chips, tortillas, cornbread? Yum. G'luck.

awww... :( I'm so sorry. Definitely get that 2nd opinion, and in the mean time, if I find any tasty recipes that you can ingest, I'll pass them on.

you can do this! a dairy free life is easy although it does suck avoiding almonds.I love almond milk!

how sucky. get a second opinion and get it from a doctor who will discuss it with you after the results!!!

I'm also on a daily almond routine.

Get a second opinion, then just keep getting opinions until you get the right one. Maybe try going to Tijuana or consulting an internet doctor.

Second opinion is a great idea. I also like the Tijuana idea. My grandpa gets his teeth in Mexico remember??

Seriously, that sucks sister. :( You're going to have to join an internet support group and I'm not even kidding. My sis-in-law had to because my nephew is allergic to eggs/peanuts/dairy and treenuts (they think). :( She's gotten quite a few good ideas from the group...apparently, it's all about the soy, the animal proteins (blech), rice (yay!) and the fruits and veggies. Ugghh...so sorry for you. :(

At least you're not allergic to Diet Coke right?

Oh and that same grandpa used to drink goat milk straight from the teet. I am so not joking. That's what happened when you were allergic to dairy in the good ol' days on the farm. ;) See, it could be worse.

i have a recipe for gluten free vegan cupcakes. i was going to give it to you earlier who knew it would come in so handy?

Thanks for all the support everyone. I really do appreciate it. Judy, you are amazing to even offer to experiment with recipes for me. And if I know you like I think I do, you'll come up with something delicious.

And Erin, seriously straight from the teet? That really puts things in perspective for me.

If you are looking for a second opinion, check out Dr. Morgan:

He is amazing, and I think there is a coupon for a free consultation on his website. He has helped both my son and me with allergies. Just amazing.

Lisa, I am so so sorry for you. There has to be something wrong with this doctor's dignosis. Can a person really be allergic to that much stuff? Aren't there things doctors can do for you to help with allergies? Hang in there, can't wait to hear your second opinion.

Lisa, I am very sorry for your loss of good food, but I do have something that will cheer you up, (although no pic). So you know WV life is quite backwards at times....well on the local McDonalds, on the huge kiosk it states....."Now Hiring Full Time Mourning Shift" By the way that is how it was spelled. I think I need them to contact Miss Always Appropriate to teach them a few things.

Ugh. How can it be possible to be allergic to everything? well, almost everything? Doctors shouldn't be able to give that diagnosis without giving you hope too... like that there's a secret grocery store just for people like you with tons of delicious food. It's just not right!
